The Caledonia girlsí golf team played in 40 degree temperatures and winds at 25 mph, but still had a good beginning at their first meet of the season on Tuesday, April 3 against La Crescent at Valley High Golf Course.
The girls came in with a 193 to La Crescentís 307. Coach Ken Van Den Boom said that the 193 was a very good score for a first meet.
Medalist was Janelle Lilliquist with a 44. "Janelle did a great job with her 44," said Van Den Boom.
"Having three girls in the 40s is a good start," he said. "Everyone had a bad hole or two. This is something we need to work on."
Caledoniaís B-squad came in with a 229, which Van Den Boom said was an okay score.
Although the below normal temperatures havenít exactly put a crimp on Caledoniaís style on the golf course, Van Den Boom said, "We need some warm weather!"
Scoring for Caledonia were Janelle Lilliquist 44; Laura Roesler 49; Kelly Bauer 49; and Tayler Kurk 51. Also golfing varsity were Heather Kuecker 54, and Clare McCarthy 58.
On B-squad were Sam Meyer 52; Jessica Kruckow 58; Chelsea McManimon-Moe 59; and Emily Klug and Sarah Eppen with 60.
Next: Caledonia played against Fillmore Central on Monday, April 9 and they hosted Kingsland on Tuesday, April 10.
