Warror girls track are
second at Empire Invite

The girls track team ran its first outdoor meet of the season in 40-degree temperatures and managed to come out second of the ten teams at the Empire Invitational April 3. Caledonia/Spring Grove had 119 points, and host Holmen took first with 218.
"We ran well given the weather," said coach Paul Stevens. "Samantha Wermager had a fall in the 100 hurdles, but did do well in the 300 hurdles and her high jump. Katie Wiste did come up with a slight pull in her leg, which did take her out of a race. She was able to get in some good jumps."
The 4x100 relay team took first with a time of 55.43. Runners were Molly Furlong, Alecia Fruechte, Courtney Gran and Laquita Becker.
In the 4x200 relay, C/SG was a close second with a time of 1:54.62. Holmen was in first place at 1:53.45. Running in that event were Laquita Becker, Megan King, Sarah Colleran and Ashley King.
The 4x800 relay team of Cheyenne Spinden, Michaella Neuzil, Jenna Dokken and Richell Mehus finished in 12:04.94 for third placce.
In the 4x400 relay, C/SG was fourth. Bobbi Jo Schuttemeier, Rachel Bauer, Arie Albert and Megan Schmitz crossed the finish line in 5:02.08.
Danielle Frank, out for track for the first time as a senior, was seventh in the 400 meter dash. Her time was 1:14.50. Lindsey Granís time in that event was 1:20.85
Molly Furlong finished the 100 meter dash in 13.91 for fifth place. Alecia Fruechte fiinished in 14.17 and Courtney Gran in 14.18.
In the 1600, Richell Mehus had the best time for C/SG, finishing in 6:18.64 for third place. Stormy Ott was fourth with a time of 6:23.89
Samantha Wermager was third in the 300 meter hurdles. Her time was 55.53. Alecia Fruechte ran the 100 meter hurdles and finished in 23:00. Samantha Wermager finished in 28.75.
Cheyenne Spinden ran the 800 meter in 3:17.85.
In the 200 meter dash, Courtney Gran finished in fourth place with a time of 30.92.
Stormy Ott ran the 3200 meter in 14.26.5 for second place.
Field events
In the field events, Samantha Wermager jumped 4 ft. 8 inches for second place. Katie Wiste was third in the long jump with a distance of 13 ft. 7.5 inches. Alecia Welscher jumped 12 ft. 3 inches, and Bobbi Jo Schuttemeier jumped 12 ft. 1.75 inches.
Wiste took first in the triple jump with a combined distance of 31 ft. 5.75 in.
Molly Schaller threw the discus 85 ft. for third place, and Betsy Schaller threw a distance of 68 ft. 4 inches. Arie Albert threw for 57 ft., 6 inches.
In the shot put, Molly Schaller finished second with a distance of 32-00.50. Betsy Schaller had 26-08.50 and Arie Albert threw 22-04.00.
Caledonia Invitational
In Friday, Caledonia will host the Caledonia Invitational track meet, the only meet of the season that will be held in Caledonia. Events begin at 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, April 17, the track teams travel to La Crosse Logan.
