David Holzwarth, Sr.
David R. Holzwarth, Sr., 58, of rural Mabel, Minn. died at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital on April 10, 2007.
He was born Feb. 23, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minn. He was adopted by Raymond and Goldie (Holt) Holzwarth of Brownsville. He attended school at Brownsville, St. Johns of Caledonia, and graduated from Caledonia High in 1967. After school he went into custom farming.
On September 18, 1971 he married Cathy Myhre of Spring Grove. The lived in Caledonia, Houston, Eitzen, and Spring Grove, before settling in Mabel where they have lived for the past 21 years.
He was a member of the Scheie Lutheran Church and the Toot and Whistle club.
He is survived by his wife Cathy; five children, Rebecca (Michael) Carmack, Caledonia; David Jr., Mabel; Benjamin (Shanna), Waukon, Iowa; Tina Holzwarth (Steve Wallin), Mabel; Andrew of LaCrosse; 11 granddaughters, and one brother, Daniel Holzwarth Sr. of Maine.
He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Clara and Carlton Myhre, and brother in-law John Myhre.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 ñ 8 p.m. Friday, April 13 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
