The Caledonia baseball team started the season out with two Three Rivers Conference wins. The Warriors traveled to Rushford Monday, April 9 and returned home with a 6-4 win. The following day, the local nine hosted Fillmore Central/Lanesboro and sent the Falcons home with a 8-2 loss.
Pitching was the trump card in both of the Warriorsí two wins, as Simon Augedahl registered 16 strikeouts in the season opener against the Trojans, and Ryan Goetzinger followed suit one day later, as he struck out 16 Falcons in the seven-inning contest.
CHS 6 R-P 4
Caledonia scored once in the second, four in the third, and added one more in the fifth, in their season-opening win against Rushford-Peterson.
CHS scored in the second when Jake Hanson singled, took second on an error, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Simon Augedahl.
CHS 8 FCL 2
The Warriors topped Fillmore Central/Lanesboro April 10 by an 8-2 score. Ryan Goetzinger was on the mound for CHS and struck out 16 in the seven-inning affair.
The Falcons scored first blood in the second inning when they grouped two walks and two base hits for a 2-0 lead.
