Girls golf team adds four wins

The Caledonia/Spring Grove girlsí golf team hit the links hard this past week, making up for lost time and adding four more matches to their win column. Coach Ken Van Den Boom said that it was a great week weather-wise. "It felt good to be out and not have snow," he said.
C/SG 193, Fillmore Cent. 219
The Warriors met Fillmore Central on April 16 at Preston. Janelle Lilliquist carded a 43 to garner medalist honors. Laura Roesler scored a 47, Tayler Kurk 51, and Sam Meyer 52. Kelly Bauer carded a 54 and Heather Kuecker 57
C/SG 185, Waukon 225
Caledonia defeated Waukon by 40 strokes on the Indianís own course on Tuesday, April 17. The Caledonia JV score at 222 also was good enough to defeat the home team.
C/SG 180, Chatfield 247
Caledonia played Chatfield on Thursday, April 19 at Chosen Valley Golf Course in Chatfield.
Three girls came in with scores in the 40s. "As a team we need to try and get six girls in the 40s," said Van Den boom. "It was great to get a team score of 180, but as a team we need to focus on those holes that are causing big numbers."
Janelle Lilliquist was medalist with 40. Kelly Bauer shot a 43, Laura Roesler 47, and Sam Meyer 50. Tayler Kurk and Clare McCarthy carded 52s.
At the Oaks
Caledonia finished third in an 11-team meet at the Oaks in Hayfield on Saturday, April 20.
The two teams that scored better than Caledonia were both at the state tournament last year.
Caledonia came in with a 388. Scoring for the Warriors were Janelle Lilliquist who was 5th overall with a 90. Kelly Bauer was 9th overall with a 95. Laura Roesler scored a 100, Heather Kuecker 103, Sam Meyer 109 and Tayler Kurk 111.
