in 100 meter dash

Because the time recorded was ëhand-heldí in Zach Granís 100 meter dash last week, the 10.82 mark cannot be counted officially as a school record. The weather was anything but ideal so the possibility of Gran setting an ëofficialí mark is good when the weather warms up, his coaches feel. Gran won the event in the Logan Invitational at La Crosse.
The Warriors finished sixth in the ten team field. The surprise was that the Caledonia/Spring Grove team finished ahead of rival La Crescent by 15 points. When the schools were broken down by size, the Warriors were fourth of seven teams. La Crosse Logan won the event.
Gran finished second in the 200 meters at 22.8 seconds, just .2 of a second off the school record. Derek Lager was third in the same event at 11.5 seconds.
Another second place finish was recorded by the 4 x 100 meter relay team in 46.5 seconds.
In the shot put, Andrell Hudson was third. Just one inch separated the top three placers in the event. The 4 x 200 relay team was third at 1:39.7 minutes. Boys coach Carl Fruechte said, "We just have real young kids in these events and I think they are doing real well."
Derek Beier was sixth in the long jump with a measurement of 17-11.75 feet.
