Norma Mechtel
Norma M. Mechtel, 92, of Caledonia, died Friday, August 17, 2007 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was born August 6, 1915 in Caledonia to John and Selma (Kannenberg) Holter. She married Leroy Mechtel June 8, 1933 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Leroy preceded her in death June 18, 2001.
Norma was a homemaker and she worked at Northern Engraving, Spring Grove from the early 1960s to the late 1980s. She was a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by three sons: Ramon, Caledonia; Robert (Peggy), Middleburg, Fla.; Allen (Pam), Caledonia; a daughter, Judy (Don) Klug of Lewiston, Minn.; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son Donald; and grandsons, Daniel Klug and Steven Mechtel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, where a rosary was said at 6 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
