Houston County flood update
HOUSTON COUNTY
ROAD CONDITIONS
(As of 9:00 a.m. on 8/21/07)
Most County Roads are open for LOCAL TRAVEL ONLY however there are still a few closures.
Difficult driving conditions exist and extreme care is needed when traveling on any local road.
If conditions change, local roads may need to be re-closed.
Remember, when road clean up crews are present, the site is considered to be a construction zone and all traffic must slow down, proceed with caution and yield to public safety vehicles.
CSAH #18 - 2 lanes are open from Brownsville to Hokah.
CSAH #25 - 2 lanes open from La Crescent to CSAH #21.
CSAH #20 - 2 lanes of traffic open from Highway 44 north of Caledonia to 3/4 miles south of Highway 44 by the Jehovah Witness Church. There is no through traffic, as there is a bridge out near the south end of this road.
CSAH #22 - Currently closed at 1 1/2 miles south of State Highway 16. The crew is on location making repairs, and if there are no unforeseen problems, this road will be open later today from Highway 76 to State Highway 16.
CSAH #13 - Closed from Houston to the top of Oak Ridge Hill.
CSAH #26 - Closed from Money Creek to Rushford.
CSAH #26 - Closed from Campbell Valley east to Winona County lines - bridge out.
CSAH #9 - Closed from CSAH #21 to Winona County line - 700 to 800 feet of road is gone.
CSAH #9 - From CSAH #21 to Houston open to local traffic only until further notice. This road is in very poor condition and is one lane in some spots.
CSAH #21 - Plan to open this road at noon for local traffic only from State Highway 16 to CSAH #9 with 2 lanes of traffic. This road has very hazardous conditions.

FLOOD VICTIM ASSISTANCE & VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:
Houston County has established a center for Houston County flood victims and for those willing to assist flood victims.
The center is located in the Caledonia City Hall Council Chambers at 231 East Main St., and will be accessible FROM 6:00 am TO 9:00 pm per day. Flood victims needing assistance or volunteers willing to help with flood damage clean-up, may stop in or call 507-725-2799.
FLOOD ASSISTANCE FOR DISABLED VETERANS:
The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Office will be at the Hokah City Fire Department, Thursday August 23, 2007 from 10 am to 4 p.m. to offer disaster assistance to affected service connected disabled veterans.
DEBRIS DISPOSAL:
In order to assist with the disposal of flood damaged household items, the recycling drop-off sites in Houston, Hokah and La Crescent will be open from 10 AM until 6:00 PM through this Saturday. Refuse containers will also be placed at the Ball Field in Brownsville today. Remember, household debris taken to any location needs to be sorted by material type.
