FEMA arrives in Caledonia, no public meetings will be held at this time

FEMA is in Houston County, however, no public meetings are being held and no
individual applications for assistance are being taken at this time.


FEMA is only viewing some of the major flood damaged areas in order for the
President to make a disaster declaration.

A variety of federal disaster relief, including FEMA assistance, only becomes
available IF the President issues a federal disaster declaration.

NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM FEMA IS BEING GIVEN OUT AT THIS TIME!

Neither Houston County nor the Red Cross have any individual applications for
assistance from FEMA at this time.

FLOOD ASSISTANCE FOR DISABLED VETERANS:

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Office will be at the Hokah
City Fire Department, Thursday, August 23, 2007 from 10 am to 4 pm to offer
disaster assistance to affected service connected disabled veterans.

DEBRIS DISPOSAL:

In order to assist with the disposal of flood damaged household items, the
recycling drop-off sites in Houston, Hokah and La Crescent will be open from
10:00 AM until 6:00 PM on weekdays and all drop-off sites will be open this
Saturday from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Remember, household debris taken to any
location needs to be sorted by material type.
