Jacob Scott Arvid Onstad
Jacob Scott Arvid Onstad, age 24, of Spring Grove, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in rural Decorah, Iowa.
Jake was born on May 14, 1983 to Scott and Joyce (Wiste) Onstad, in Decorah, Iowa. He was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a 2001 Spring Grove High School graduate. Jacob led an award winning team at Gander Mountain, and truly enjoyed participating in activities that introduced children to outdoor sports. When not working, Jacob primarily spent time hunting, fishing, camping, reading, and speding time with family and friends. He also had a passion for theater and was in numerous Y.O.O.H. productions.
Survivors include his parents Scott and Joyce Onstad of Spring Grove; his grandmothers, Dolly Onstad of Spring Grove, and Carmona Wiste of Black Hammer; his brother, Lucas Onstad of Spring Grove, and Lukeís special friend Emily Welscher of Caledonia; his two sisters April (Brian) Pendleton of Kansas City, Mo., and Tracy (Nathan) Deml of La Crosse, Wisc.; and two nieces. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers, Bill Onstad and Arvid Wiste.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church of Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Pastor Leonard Liptack will officiate. Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is in charge of arrangements.
