Short-handed Warriors place sixth at Winona

The Caledonia/Houston wrestling team only put 10 wrestlers on the mat for 13 weights 10 days ago and finished sixth of nine teams in the Winona tournament. It was an abbreviated version of the tournament because of a storm, but all matches were held in the individual meet.
"Overall, I think we wrestled well," coach Jay Tolleson said. "All of our wrestlers placed in the top six." Four wrestlers are in eighth grade and four are in the ninth grade. "We were just 10 1/2 points out of fourth place," Tolleson said.
"I would have called our lineup ëmakeshift'," Tolleson said. "Some of our football players only started this week," Tolleson said. "If they go directly from football to wrestling, it gets to be a long wrestling season."
Two football players, Tyler Stemper and Lee Burg, will not wrestle until next week "A couple of dual meets in December will not be as important as the wrestling that is done in February," Tolleson said.
The injury ëbug' has hit the program. "A couple of guys remain injured. We hope everyone is healed and are ready for the stretch runs in January and February," Tolleson said.Ý
The meet with Holmen was postponed because of the snow. The meet with Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson (LARP) is this Thursday at Houston.
