The Caledonia boys basketball team made it five wins without a loss last week, as they picked up TRC wins over Dover-Eyota (66-59) Tuesday and Rushford-Peterson (68-50) Thursday night.

"The kids are playing some very good ball right now," coach Josh Diersen said. "We're getting our shooters' touch. We hit 18 of 38 three pointers (47.4 percent), averaged 67 points per game and held our opponents to a 54.5 average this past week."

CHS 66 D-E 59

The visiting D-E Eagles started out hot and took a 12 point lead over the undefeated Warriors at the local gym on Tuesday, Dec. 18. But the Warrior guards got hot and trimmed the 24-12 deficit at the 12 minute mark to a four-point game with D-E leading 31-27 at the half.

The Warriors continued their comeback run in the second half, as Kody Moore hit three straight treys and scored 16 of his 19 total points in the second half.

CHS outscored D-E 54-35 once they got on track to win the game by seven points, 66-59.

"We started out cold, and D-E started out hot," Diersen noted. "But once we got things going, we really turned the game around. Ryan Goetzinger had a big night and really kept us in the game in the first half. He had 18 points in the first half and finished with 30 points for the game.

"Kody (Moore) and Craig (Loeffler) both had good games shooting from the outside," Diersen continued. "Kody finished with 19 and Craig had 10. Once we started hitting from the outside, it forced D-E out of their zone and we were able to post people up and make some inside shots. The kids played well. They didn't panic when we were down by 12 in the first half. I was very pleased with the way they hung in there, started finding their shots and turned the game around."

Goetzinger led the Warriors with 30 points, and pulled down 10 boards. Moore added 19 points and five rebounds, while Loeffler was also in double figures with 10 points and dished out four assists. Point guard Bobby Augedahl didn't score, but had a team-high seven assists. Cody Huagstad and Alex Klug each had three points and Alex Schleich had one point.

The Warriors shot 54 percent from the field, including 39 percent from three point land and 58 percent from the charity line.

CHS 68 R-P 50

The Warriors shot a sizzling 55 percent from three point land, jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back in their 18-point win over the R-P Trojans in Rushford Thursday night.

Loeffler had the hot hand for the Warriors, as the senior guard nailed five of 12 treys and scored 21 points in the first half.

Junior forward Goetzinger, who has been averaging over 20 points per game, tweaked his ankle in the opening minutes of the game and did not return.

"Ryan will be fine. He just had a slight sprain, but I felt it was best to keep him out of the game. We had a good lead and I felt we had the game in hand. He'll be ready for the holiday tournament coming up," Diersen noted.

The Warriors built a 38-21 halftime lead and continued to control the game in the second half.

CHS had three players in double figures. Loeffler had a game-high 25 points, Augedahl hit five of six three pointers for 15 points and had three rebounds, and Moore had 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Isaac Fruechte had six points and Klug, Haugstad, and Goetzinger tallied two points, while Mike Ideker had one point.

The Warriors shot 43 percent from the field and made 11 of 18 shots (61 percent) from the free throw line.
