Lawrence ëDutchí Protsman

Lawrence "Dutch" Protsman, 79, of Lansing, Ia., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 at his home in Lansing.

Dutch was born in Lansing Dec. 9, 1927 to Albert and Ferne (Sandry) Protsman. He was a veteran who served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

He married Noel Early on June 3, 1948 in Biloxi Miss. at Keesler Air Base. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1988, having been a rural mail carrier for 25 years.

Over the years he had been a volunteer fireman, manager of the Lansing Mudcats baseball team, reserve police officer, past president of the school board, a Boy Scout leader and a former Mason.Ý

He is survived by his wife; three children: Stephen (Kathleen) of Austin, Tex.; David (Vicky) of Decorah, Ia; and Lisa (Tom) Batteen of Box Elder, S.D.; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Alvina Yohe of Caledonia.

Dutch was preceded in death by two brothers: Norbert and Albert Jr.

There will be no formal services. Friends and relatives are welcome to stop by the house to visit with the family at their convenience. The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.
