Mervin Ellestad
Mervin E. Ellestad, 79 of Spring Grove, died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
He was born June 25, 1927 to Neuman and Emily (Myhre) Ellestad.
He was born and raised in Spring Grove, and later moved to the Twin Cities, and then back to Spring Grove in 1988. He had also lived in Columbus, Ohio.
He was a Spring Grove High School graduate.
On July 2, 1949 he married Norma Ellingson. She preceded him in death in 1985. He later married Shirley Flatin.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Mervin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, the Shriners, and the Masons.
During Mervinís retirement, he was an assistant for Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Spring Grove; his children Craig (Debbie) of Brooklyn Park, MN; Jeanne (Eric) Ness of Apple Valley, MN; Kyle Flatin of Spring Grove; Rick (Cindy) Flatin of Houston, MN, and Cheryl (Bernie) Krenzke of Spring Grove; nine grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Marie) Ellestad of Caledonia; three sisters Dorothy (Bradlee) Karlsbroten, Ione (Mervin) Quinnell of Spring Grove, and Norma (Jennings) Johnson of White Bear Lake, MN.
Funeral services were held Monday Jan. 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.
Burial was in Trinity Church Cemetery.
Friends called Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
