Virginia Lemke
Virginia G. Lemke, 82, of La Crescent, died Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
She was born in Collinsville, IL, October 14, 1924 to Theodore and Augusta (Kueker) Grosze, and moved with her family to Lake Charles, IA as a young girl.
She married Wilbert Lemke on November 23, 1946 in Lake Charles.
Virginia was a long-time member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on South Ridge where she started the Sunday School program and served as treasurer of Ladies Aid for many years.
Virginia is survived by five sons: Ron (Dee), and Norman (Lucille), both of Caledonia; Daniel (Shirley) of Holmen; Randy (Sharrie), and Gary (Sharon) Lemke, both of La Crescent; one daughter: Kay (Rod) Buck of Chaseburg, WI; twelve grandchildren; one sister: Naomi (Fred) Buckner of Houston, TX; two brothers: Bill (Judy) Grosze of Homosassa Springs, FL; and Martin (Pat) Grosze of Fort Smith, AR; two brothers-in-law: Ernest (Barbara) Werren of Silverthorne, CO; and Harold Lemke of Holmen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert, on June 6, 1981; one sister, Laverne Werren; and one brother, Ted Grosze.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, South Ridge. Pastor Steven Wall will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
