MSHSL suspends wrestling in all schools
The Minnesota State High School has scheduled a news conference today, Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 4:30 p.m. at its Brooklyn Center office to announce a temporary suspension of the Minnesota high school wrestling season. The suspension of practice and competition is due to a dangerous outbreak of an infectious skin disease called herpes gladiatorum.
Noted skin disease authority Dr. B.J. Anderson, a member of the Leagueís Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, will be available to provide specific details about the outbreak and discuss precautionary measures to minimize the risk of the disease spreading further.
The Argus will continue to update readers on this development. The regular wrestling season was to end on February 2.
