Ida Nelson

Ida Marie Nelson, 88, of Houston, MN died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Franciscan Skemp Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.

Ida was born October 16, 1918 to August and Anna Larson. She married James E. Nelson on January 2, 1943 in Houston. They farmed in Skunk Hollow in Houston until 1963 when they moved to town. Ida worked at Valley View Nursing Home, Solbergís CafÈ, and then became a fulltime homemaker as well as a longtime family caretaker. She was a lifelong member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Nelson of Caledonia; son, Richard (Marion) Nelson of Houston; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Harry (Mary Ann) Hall of Silverbay, MN; sister-in-law, Malita Mickelson of Onalaska, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; sister June Sobeck; brothers Richard and Earl Mickelson; sister-in-law Cora Rowe; brothers-in-law Dillard Sobeck, Adolph Olson, Harvey Rowe, Martin and Orvin Nelson, and close friend and companion, Myron Unnasch.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 8, at 11 a.m. at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Reverend Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
