The newest health care provider at the Caledonia Clinic is already well-acquainted with the area. Dr. Michelle Rein hails from Mabel, and she and her husband, a veterinarian with a practice in Harmony, have decided to settle down for good in the area.
A 1993 graduate of Mabel-Canton High School, Dr. Rein (formerly Glenna) attended Viterbo University in La Crosse. She originally planned to pursue a career in nursing, but after a year decided that medicine would be a better fit. She earned a degree in chemistry and a minor in biology from Viterbo, and then went to the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she received her M.D. degree. She graduated in 2001.
Dr. Rein (pronounced ryan) completed her three-year residency in family practice with the Franciscan Health System- La Crosse campus, and was chief resident her last year of residency.
As the mother of two boys, J.T., 2-1/2 and Michael, 10 months, the opportunity to practice in Caledonia came at a perfect time, said Dr. Rein. Her husband John graduated from Lanesboro High School, so their location puts them close to both sets of parents. They also enjoy life in the country and being outdoors with their sons.
A good fit
Dr. Rein is enthusiastic about joining her colleagues at the Caledonia Clinic: Dr. John Cochran, Dr. Ryan Brenza, and Deb Miller CNM, C-FNP.
"Itís really a diverse group," said Dr. Rein. "We all have different interests and perspectives and I think we will complement each other."
Special interests of Dr. Reinís include womenís health, pediatrics and community medicine. She will continue to see some of her La Crosse obstetrics patients, and will work in Houston one afternoon a week.
"I am really excited to be back and be a part of this group," she said.
Appointments with Dr. Rein can be scheduled by calling the clinic at 507-725-3353.
