Lydia Burmester
Lydia H. I. Burmester, 96, of Caledonia died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at her home.
She was born November 16, 1910, in Hillpoint, Wis., to Wilhelm and Bertha (Ruehlow) Hasse. Lydia attended school in Hillpoint through the eighth grade. On February 17, 1947, she married Herman Burmester in Reedsburg, Wis. She was a farm wife in rural Caledonia until retiring and moving to Caledonia in 1975. Lydia was a member of St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia.
Survivors include her two sons, Ruben (Cheryl) of Rochester, Minn., and Donald of Caledonia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margie Hasse.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband on March 30, 1990; a son; two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Monday at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, and from 10 am until the time of service, Tuesday at the church. The family prefers memorial gifts be given to the St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church Roof Fund.
