Clarence Eikens
Clarence H. Eikens, 92 of Caledonia, died Thursday, July 26, 2007 at his home.
He was born March 18, 1915 in Caledonia to Henry and Dora (Kipp) Eikens. He was a graduate of Loretto High School, Caledonia. He married Leonette Hurley August 25, 1949 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Caledonia. Clarence was a retired farmer and was always interested in good use of the land. After he retired he was involved in woodworking of all kinds. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 61 years and a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. He was involved in the Citizens for Educational Freedom, the Root River Soil and Water Conservation District, Crooked Creek Watershed Project, and Farm Bureau. He also was a seed corn salesman and a fire warden.
He is survived by his wife Leonette of Caledonia, five children, Anita (Mary Beth Casey) Eikens of Milwaukee; Carol (Bruce) Jansky of St. Cloud, Minn.; John (Michelle) Eikens of Chisago City, Minn.; Paul (Maryann) Eikens of Missoula, Mont.; and David (Kathleen) Eikens of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Father LeRoy Eikens of Stewartville; a sister Helen Klug of Caledonia; and a step sister, Mary (Howard) Meyer of LaCrescent.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Josh Eikens; two brothers Ralph and Irvin; a sister, Jeanette Peter; and step-brothers Rainer and Ellsworth Klug.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, where a Knights of Columbus rosary will be said at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. Memorials may be given to St. Maryís School, Houston County Historical Society or donorís choice.
