Caledoniaís Janelle Lilliquist finished 11th in the state in Class A girlsí golf after playing in the State Tournament Wednesday and Thursday, June 6 and 7 at Izatyís near Onamia.

"This was a great way for her to go out as a senior," said coach Ken Van Den Boom. "Last year she finished 25th."

Van Den Boom said that Lilliquist also made Academic All-State. To quality for Academic All-State, a player must not only have at least a 3.7 grade point average, but must also play in the first round of a sub-section tournament. "Not many girls make Academic All-State, and get to play in the state tourney," said Van Den Boom.

Lilliquist carded an 87 on Wednesday and an 82 on Thursday. The 82 was her best score ñ ever. "She finished in great style with her best score ever on any course for 18 holes," said Van Den Boom. "And in windy conditions too. As any golfer knows, wind is sometimes a bigger challenge than anything else on the course."
