Lyle E. Briggs
Lyle E. Briggs, 94, of Houston, died on Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Golden Living Care Center in La Crescent, Minn.
Lyle was born on January 7, 1913 in Houston to Hollis and Gertrude Maude (Chapel) Briggs. He was a lifelong Houston resident. Lyle received a B.A. in business and economics in 1934, and in the fall of that year he entered the University of Minnesota to study law pertaining to business and finance. He married Joyce Fieck in 1939.
In 1941, he returned to Houston and served as Vice President of Security State Bank. Lyle was inducted into the Army in 1944, and worked at Winter General Hospital in the Medical Dept. Following the military, Lyle moved back to Houston to work at the family bank where he served as President until 1978.
Lyle was President of the Independent Bankers of Minnesota; a member of the Free Masons, American Legion, and the Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by two daughters: May Kay Briggs of St. Paul, Minn. and Hollie Briggs of LaCrescent, Minn.; three grandchildren.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife Joyce.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Hoff Funeral Homes ñ Houston Chapel. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Service held at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, Lyleís body will be cremated with burial of his cremated body in the Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, Minn.
The family prefers memorials to the Masonic Cancer Center or to the First Presbyterian Church in Rushford, Minn.
