Thomas R. Zeimet
Thomas R. Zeimet, 84 of New Albin, Iowa, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in LaCrosse, Wisc.
Thomas was born in Lansing, Iowa on November 11, 1922 to John and Leonette (Althoff) Zeimet. He married Goldie Thimmesch on December 29, 1949 at St. Josephís in New Albin. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1967. He worked in maintenance for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, at Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant in California from 1971 to 1982. Thomas was a 3rd degree member of the Waukon council #1570 of the Knights of Columbus, a 4th degree member of the Ossian Davis Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of he VFW, he held various positions in both organizations. İİDuring retirement he enjoyed working on his acreage.
Thomas is survived by Goldie, his wife of 57 years; three children, Bonnie Zeimet of New Albin, Michael Zeimet of New Albin, and Patricia (George) Coots of New Albin; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five siblings, Clem (Darlene) Zeimet of Lansing, Iowa, Jim (Jean) Zeimet of Austin Minn., Adrian (Nancy) Zeimet of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Mary McCarthy of Dubuque, Iowa, and Regina Collins of Rochford Ill. He is also surived by his Mother in law, Helen Thimmesch of New Albin.
Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Leonette Zeimet-Kraft; a grandson, Charles Baker; by two siblings, Barney Zeimet and Bernadette Weber; a son-in-law Duane Kumpf; and his father in law Henry Thimmesch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. Knipper officiating, Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in New Albin where military rites will be accorded.
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the New Albin Community Center where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 and a Parish Scripture Service at 8pm. The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.
