Helen Fruechte
Helen M. Fruechte, 99, of Caledonia and formerly of Dorchester, Iowa, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.
Helen was born May 26, 1907 in Union City township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Henry and Dina (Staggemeier) Hinrichs. On October 1, 1931Ýshe married Arthur H. Fruechte in Hubbard, Iowa by Rev. Erich Bizer.
Helen and Art farmed in Union City township, IowaÝfor many years until 1979 when they moved to Caledonia. Arthur preceded Helen in death on August 9, 1997 at the age of 95. Helen was a member of St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen where at one time sheÝwas a member of the church choir and the womenís fellowship and had served as the womenís fellowship treasurer.
Survivors include a special cousin, Mabel Haar, Caledonia; a sister-in-law, Norma Fruechte, New Albin, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, RoyÝHinrichs.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 21 at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ, Eitzen. Rev. Kent A. Meyer, Ph.D., and Rev. Debra A. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
