Warrior boys continue winning ways in golf

The Caledonia boys golf team picked up three wins early in the week, as they topped RushfordPeterson on Monday, April 23 and then won a three-team match against Crestwood of Cresco and Waukon the following afternoon.
Warriors top Trojans
The Warriors remained undefeated in Three Rivers Conference play, when they hosted R-P at Ma Cal Grove and sent the Trojans home with a 169-179 loss.
Alek Eglinton was the match medalist, carding a 40. Mitchell Massman, Kyle Runningen and Craig Loeffler all turned in 43s to round out the top four scores. Garrett Cross had a 45 and Erik Fisch had a 48 for the other two varsity scores.
R-Pís Zach Thompson carded the low score for the Trojans with a 41.
JV team wins on tie-breaker
The Warrior and Trojan junior varsity teams battled to a tie, with the top four golfers on each team totaling 199 strokes. So the fifth golferís score from each team was used, and the Warriors came out on top 255-260. Luke Daley and Joey Ehlers turned in 49s for CHS, while AJ Bird shot a 50, Lucas Harguth had a 51, and Greg Schleich had a 56 for the fifth, and deciding score. Doug Welscher had a 60.
Warriors win triangular
The CHS boys traveled to Waukon last Tuesday and returned home with wins over both Crestwood and host school Waukon. The Warriors turned in an impressive 161 in the cold, wind, and rain. Crestwood was second at 167, and Waukon third at 174.
Cross had the low round for the Warriors with a 38. Massman was right behind with a 39. Fisch and Loeffler carded 42s for the top four scores. Eglinton and Runningen each had 43s for the final two varsity scores.
JV team second
The Warrior junior varsity finished five strokes behind Waukon 198-203, while Crestwood finished third at 213.
Daley had the low round for the Warrior JV team with a 48. Schleich had a 49, Welscher had a 50, Harguth had a 56, Bird had a 60 and Greg Link had an 86.
This week
The Warriors have two TRC matches this week, as they traveled to Harmony to battle Fillmore Central May 1, and to Ferndale Country Club to battle Rushford-Peterson Friday.
