Roger Haar
Roger G. Haar, 81, of Eitzen, Minn., died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Tweeten-Lutheran Health Care Center, Spring Grove.
He was born April 19, 1926 in Union City Township, Iowa, to Martin and Adeline (Fruechte) Haar. Roger attended the stone school in Union City Township and worked for farmers in the neighborhood. On February 24, 1949 he married Eleanor Krueger at the St. Johnís U.C.C. parsonage in La Crosse. He served in the United States Army from February 18, 1954 until October of 1955. RogerÝcontinued to farm until March 1, 1968. Roger was a member of St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen where he served as church custodian for 18 years. He was a member of the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post 191 of Caledonia.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of Eitzen;Ýdaughter, Trudy Bunge and her friend, Mark, of McGregor, Minn.; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; andÝsister, Elaine Snell of Caledonia.
Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ, Eitzen. Rev. Kent A. Meyer, Ph.D., and Rev. Debra A. Meyer will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday, both at the church. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
