CHS boys prepare for sub-section golf tourney

The Caledonia boys golf team honed their tournament skills last week in preparation for the Section 1A Sub-Section meet, which was held Tuesday, May 22 in Adams after this edition of the Argus went to press. On May 15, the Warriors topped a four-team field at the very tough Sommersby Golf Course in Byron. Three days later, the CHS golfers placed second at the Boomer Invitational at the Oaks Country Club in Hayfield.

CHS takes first

High school golfers from Caledonia, Hayfield, Byron, and St. Charles found out what a championship golf course is like when they played at Sommersby in Byron last Tuesday, May 15. The CHS golfers had the low score with a 183. Alek Eglinton had the low round for the Warriors with a 44. Kyle Runningen was right behind with a 45. Craig Loeffler and Erik Fisch had 47ís to round out the scoring for CHS. Garrett Cross had a 49 and Michell Massman had a 54.

Byron was second with a 190, Hayfield was third with a 199, and St. Charles placed fourth with a 218.

R-P edges Warriors

The Rushford-Peterson Trojans needed two less strokes to complete the 18-hole Boomer Invitational last Friday at the Oaks Country Club in Hayfield, than the Warriors, as they topped the local golfers 343-345 for first place honors in the nine-team field.

Runningen had the low round for the Warriors with an 83. Loeffler was second with an 84, Massman followed with an 85 and Eglinton had a 93 for the top four CHS scores. Cross had a 94 and Fisch had a 99 for the other two CHS scores.

Lewiston-Altura placed third in the tourney with a 368. Fillmore Central was fourth at 375, PEM was fifth at 382, Wabasha-Kellogg was sixth at 384, Southland was seventh at 389, Kingsland with eighth at 390, and Chatfield was ninth at 408.
