The Caledonia/Spring Grove girlsí golf team brought in its best score so far this year, aided by Janelle Lilliquistís 39 on April 30.
C/SG 186 vs. Kingsland
Coach Ken Van Den Boom was quoted in last weekís Argus as saying that his team needed to get below 190 as a varsity score on their own course. The Warriors fulfilled that need by coming in with a 186 against Kingsland on Monday, April 30.
Van Den Boom was happy with the 186, as he was with Janelle Lilliquistís 39. This was Lilliquistís first time in the 30s at Ma Cal Grove, as well as the first time this year anyone on the team golfed below 40. "We still need more ladies shooting below 50," he said.
Scoring for Caledonia were Lilliquist 39, Kelly Bauer 47, Sam Meyer 49, and Tayler Kurk 51. Laura Roesler carded a 52 and Heather Kuecker a 55.
Kingsland had three girls on their team who carded scores of 46, 51 and 64.
Caledoniaís JV came in with a 240 for the day. Clare McCarthy and Chelsea McManimon-Moe each scored a 59, Sam Ellingson 60, and Jessica Kruckow and Emily Klug 62s. Also golfing JV were Sarah Eppen 63, Bridget Macomber 69, and Austen Perry 85.
C/SG 192, Decorah 207,
Fillmore 236
Caledonia hosted a triangular meet with Decorah and Fillmore Central on Tuesday, May 1.
Van Den Boom thought the Warriorís score of 192 was a bit high. "Our putting has improved, but we continue to have too many double bogies and worse," he said.
Lilliquistís 45 was good for medalist honors. Bauer scored a 47, Meyer 49 and Laura Roesler 51. Kurk came in with a 52 and Kuecker a 59.
Caledoniaís JV posted a score of 216. McManimon-Moe scored a 52, Klug and Stephanie Landsom each scored 54, and McCarthy a 56. Eppen and Ellingson came in with 57s, Kruckow 59, Maria Dokken 62, Perry 70, and Macomber 71.
C/SG JV 230, Chatfield JV 267
Caledoniaís JV traveled to Chatfield for another win, scoring 230 over Chatfieldís 267. "To have all of our junior high scores below 75 is great," said Van Den Boom. "All four counting scores were below 60 which for junior high is very solid."
Molly Mullins was medalist with a 53. Caitlyn Stoltz, Taylor Elton, Megan Houdek and Sadie Lange each scored a 59. Jade Steele shot a 63, McCarthy 64, Paige Langen 66, Anne Roesler 67, Jennifer Ely 69, and Heather Solberg 73.
Next: The Warriors traveled to Kingsland Monday, May 7 and to Red Wing Tuesday, May 8. "Red Wing is a big tournament for us," said Van Den Boom.
