Four Caledonia volleyball players
honored by Three-Rivers Conference

Alecia Fruechte

Alecia Fruechte, senior outside hitter earned All-Conference honors. This is Aleciaís third All-Conference nod and she earned Honorable Mention once before as well.

Coach Scott Koepke said "Alecia competed, as she always does, very hard this year. She did a great job in serve receive and played tremendous defense notching 246 digs. What makes a varsity player great in the back row is not digging, or playing the balls that come at them, but their ability to play the balls that donít come right at them. Alecia excelled at this, making many memorable digs that left Dan and I going "wow!".

"Alecia has been an all around player for us for the past four years. This year she again showed that with her 223 kills, and became virtually unstoppable as an outside. She had 57 service aces and she may have been one of the best jump servers this area had ever seen, had her back allowed her to toss it up and jump. Her passion for volleyball and her ball handling skills will be missed."

Alecia is the daughter of Carl and Becky
Fruechte of Caledonia.

Megan King

Junior Megan King was named to the All Conference team as a middle hitter. She earned Honorable Mention last year as a sophomore.

"Megan led our team with 240 kills," said Koepke. "Her live arm forced many defensive players to think about digging with their hands up or risk taking it off the forehead.

"Megan had 50 solo blocks and really worked hard to continually improve her blocking technique. She is a complete player who had 242 digs and could be seen sprawled out making digs every night. If you saw a girl on the floor getting after a ball hit out of reach in warm ups, or in a game, it was probably Megan. This shows her competitive fire and desire to help the team. Megan also had 42 service aces and was a very consistent threat for us serving night in and night out."

Megan is the daughter of Jody and Dave Konz and Randy King, all of Caledonia.

Cassie Gran

Cassie Gran earned a spot on the All Conference team as a junior setter this year. Last year as a sophomore she garnered honorable mention honors.

"Cassie had 597 set assists this year and improved every time she went out on the floor," said Koepke. "She worked very hard on her setting technique and was very deserving of her all conference honor. Cassieís attitude never changed in any of our matches. Whether we were passing well or not she kept doing her best to get the hitters hittable balls. She also became a legitimate offensive threat for our team notching 96 kills. This gives the defense a whole other dimension to worry about.

"Kristi Bren, the Fillmore Central coach, noticed Cassie at a scrimmage saying she had not remembered her from our early match but was very impressed and said she looked great. This is a testament to Cassieís work ethic. A fierce competitor, Cassie was one of our best talkers and gave us everything she had every night."

Cassie is the daughter of Dan and Gina Gran of Caledonia.

Libby Augedahl

Junior Libby Augedahl earned Honorable Mention honors this year as an outside hitter.

Scott Koepke said, "Libby was our best talker this year and always competed hard giving everything she had to her team. She led our team with 269 digs and excelled at digging balls not hit right to her. This is the trademark of all great defensive players. The ball is hit, you donít see the player, and all of the sudden there she is popping the ball up. Thatís Libby. She uses her feet as good as any player I have ever coached. She was half of our serve receive this year and handled the ball very well. Libby is a complete player and really improved her attacking this year adding 165 kills from the right side. Her slide approach gave teams fits all year. She improved her serve as well finding a nice rhythm and becoming very consistent."

Libby is the daughter of Phil and Cindy Augedahl of Caledonia.
