Mabel Haar

Mabel M. Haar, 97, of Caledonia and formerly of Eitzen, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

She was born October 23, 1910 in Eitzen to Fred and Lina (Staggemeier) Monk. Mabel was baptized on November 27, 1910 and confirmed on April 5, 1924 at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen. On June 4, 1931,

Mabel married Franklin H. Haar at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen. Together they farmed on the Monk homeplace in Eitzen until 1971 when they retired and moved into their new home in Eitzen.

On Dec. 2, 1988, Franklin preceded Mabel in death and in January of 1994, she moved to Caledonia. Mabel was a life-long member of St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen.

Survivors include one daughter, LaVonne (Jerry) Kennealy, Sun Lakes, Ariz.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Hilda Beneke.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by a brother, Louis.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ, Eitzen. Rev. Debra A. Meyer and Rev. Kent A. Meyer, Ph.D., officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Lukeís United Church of Christ or Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Program.
