Sigrid Wold
Sigrid Wold, 89, died at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home on Nov. 15, 2007.
She was born May 1, 1918 in Caledonia, Minn. to Peter and Celia Engen. Sigrid grew up on a farm south of Caledonia. She was baptized and confirmed at Wilmington Lutheran Church.
Sigrid graduated from Caledonia High School in 1936 and then went to work for the sister of the Mayo brothers in Rochester.
Sigrid attended college in La Crosse for one year. She married Glennis Wold June 14, 1940 and settled on the farm they still own east of Mabel.
Sigrid is survived by her husband Glennis; children: Keith Wold (Kay), Corwith, Iowa; Julianne (Noel) Allen, San Diego, California; Nina (Ruggero) Tortelli, Sarasota, Florida; Beau (Gayle), Eleva, Wis.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers Arne (Marge) Engen; Stanley (Eleanor) Engen; sister Arliene Tollefsrud; and sister-in-law Betty Engen. Sigrid was preceded in death by one brother, Pierce Engen.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with the Rev. Curtis Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers Sigridís wishes were that memorial donations may be made in her name to: The Salvation Army or to the WELCA flower fund of Mabel First Lutheran Church.
