Houston County Festival of Trees to
be held Nov. 23-25 in Spring Grove

Step through the Spring Grove Fest Buildingís doors on November 23rd ñ 25th and you will be stepping into an enchanted forest adorned with lights, a castle, a king and queen and their thrones and more. Welcome to Houston Countyís Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees is a three-day event with many festivities, food, music, and events for the whole family. It begins on Friday, Nov. 23 with open viewing of the trees and displays from 1 ñ 8 p.m. There is no admission charge during this time, but a free will donation will be accepted.

A special jolly guest dressed in red from head to toe ñ Santa Claus ñ will arrive and visit with children from 4 ñ 7 p.m. Children will receive a treat from Santa and can also take part in activities in the childrenís area. Children are welcome to come and color, do a craft, etc. while their parents stroll about and take in all of the festive decorations.

A chili meal will be served by the Spring Grove Ambulance crew from 5- 7 p.m. The meal includes soup or chili, an open face sandwich, bars, and coffee or milk. It costs $6 and the proceeds go back to the Ambulance Service to help them purchase items. They will be having door prizes as well.

Save yourself from extra work this holiday season and purchase cookies and candies during the special holiday sale from 4 ñ 7 p.m. Youíll smell the aroma of the fresh baked cookies and see them being decorated. Choose your favorites and sample them right away or take them home and save them for the holiday season.

Complete your evening by meandering over to Viking Memorial Park, located near Trinity Lutheran Church, by 7 p.m. to hear carolers and see the official lighting of Christmas-In-The-Village at 7 p.m.

Another festive filled day begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 24th when the enchanted forest opens for open viewing of the trees and displays, ending at 1 p.m. There is no admission charge during open viewing, but a free will donation will be accepted.

Beginning about 3 p.m. there will be an ice carving demonstration by Black River Ice Sculptures. The sculptures will be on display for rest of the evening.

The big event ñ the Enchanted Holiday Gala, Auction and Ball ñ begins at 6 p.m. The holiday spirit will fill the Fest Building as enchanting music is played and guests enjoy complimentary wine, delicious and abundant hors díoeurves, special holiday drinks, and beautiful decorations. Tickets are $15 and include the Gala and complimentary items, the Auction, and the Enchanted Holiday Ball.

The Holiday Auction follows the Gala and gives all guests a chance to purchase beautiful decorations, gift baskets, gift certificates and more. The proceeds from the Auction go to the Houston County Care and Share and the Houston County Food Shelf unless a qualified charity is designated.

The Enchanted Holiday Ball will follow the auction with DJ entertainment. "Make it a complete holiday experience and come dressed in your holiday best. Make it a fun and festive evening," encouraged Mary Walker, committee member.

Sunday morning the enchanted forest will have the enticing aroma of waffles. Dadís Belgian Waffles will be serving breakfast from 8 a.m. ñ noon. Open viewing will again take place from 8:30 ñ 1 p.m. No admission is charged, but a free will donation is accepted. Complete your holiday weekend touring area homes decked out in their finest holiday splendor. House tours will from 3 p.m. ñ 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at Solie Services, Docís Blue Moose, and during the Festival of Trees.
