When someone in Granite Falls or Montevideo asks me "where is Caledonia" I always reply "it is in the ëtoeí part of the state." So I guess that makes me a piece of sock lint stuck between the big toe and the little piggy that stayed home from the market.

I hope to one day become a full blown sock meant to keep the winter chill of an eastern Minnesota/western Wisconsin winter at bay.

But for now, one step at a time.

I am happy to be the new General Manager/Managing Editor of the Caledonia Argus. The staff has been so supportive of me in my first few days, and the patience on each of their faces as I ask one software question after another, having worked with a different software in my previous publishing experiences, is much appreciated.

I am also excited to be a part of the community of Caledonia and the surrounding areas.

My wife and I were struck by how beautiful the toe of the sock is and how truly remarkably friendly everyone has been here.

It has made being away from my family and friends a bit easier to deal with.

For the time being, I am "commuting" on the weekends. I was struck, somewhere by around Blue Earth, that my commute from one part of Minnesota to another, is the same distance as Montevideo to Omaha, Neb. It is thoughts like that which I try to chase away as it makes an already unbearable commute even longer.

But it is only for the short term.

For the time being that makes me the little piggy that went "wee, wee, wee, all the way home."

In the meantime I hope each of you will take some time to stop by and introduce yourself to me, Iíd love to meet you.

The staff here is extremely hard working and seem to be very dedicated to their jobs. You wonít regret sending us a message regarding any news or information youíd like to share.

As time goes on I hope youíll see that the big shoes Iíve to fill (Jane Palen) can indeed be filled if we do this together.

I donít claim to know everyone, but I will be respectful of any information you choose to share. Again, one day I hope youíll be as comfortable with me as you are wearing a knitted pair of socks.
