Alvin Schroeder
Alvin G. Schroeder, 81, of La Crosse, died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
He was born on May 21, 1926 in New Albin, Iowa to William and Clara (Kruse) Schroeder. He married Geneva Robinson on June 21, 1947 and they later divorced. He then married Donna Anderson on July 11, 1964 and she preceded him in death. Alvin served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He worked at Trane Co. for 41 years before retiring in 1988. He was treasurer of the International Association of Machinists Union. He was also an active member of Onalaska American Legion Post 336.
He is survived by one daughter Karen (Richard) Howell of Boone, Iowa; one son Michael (Susan) Schroeder of Spooner, Wis.; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters Marie Myren of La Crosse and Doris Carter of Michigan.
In addition to his wife Donna, he was preceded in death by a sister Hilda Owen and two brothers Delbert Schroeder and Leo Schroeder.Ý
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at the SchumacherñKish Funeral Home, La Crosse. Rev. Donald Iliff will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
