Caledonia hosted Rushford-Peterson on Thursday, Oct. 16 for their last regularly scheduled game of the season. The Warriors lost the first game by a close 21-25, but came back to easily defeat the Trojans the next three games: 25-18, 25-18 and 15-11.
Coach Scott Koepke said that the girls pulled it together after a slow start. "They started talking and doing a nice job putting the ball in play.
"R-P played really tough defense and were really working hard the first part of the match. Terry Pezl, their coach, said he thought they eventually got worn down, but wow did they play tough defense in the first two games.
"Cassie had a nice night setting for us and really worked hard to get her forehead to the ball. She also had three aces. Megan led us with 13 kills. Libby had 10, Alecia 9, and Amber Sorenson had 7 hitting .538. We hit .180 for the night which we would like to be a bit higher, but again hats off to R-Pís defense.
"With this win we tied for the conference championship which is something a Caledonia team has not done yet in the Three Rivers Conference. I am very proud of our team for accomplishing this. Four teams will share the title with a conference record or 8-2. Caledonia, F-C, Chatfield, and W-K.
Statistics: Cassie Gran had 34 set assists, 6 kills, 6 digs, 2 ace blocks, 3 ace serves, and was 17 for 19 serving; Megan King 13 kills, 7 digs, 3 ace blocks, 1 ace serve, and 15 for 16 serving; Alecia Fruechte 9 kills, 13 digs, 1 ace serve, and 15 for 15 serving; Libby Augedahl 10 kills and 14 digs; Amber Sorenson 7 kills and 1 ace block; Amber Ideker 4 kills, 6 digs; Aly Meyer 4 digs, 1 ace serve, 16 for 17 serving; Laquita Becker 5 digs; Jenna Schmitz 2 digs.
