NE Iowa Artistsí Studio Tour
will include two area studios
Two Caledonia area studios will be part of 10th Annual Northeast Iowa Artistsí Studio Tour, which will be held Oct. 5, 6, and 7.
Jill Stephenson of the Waterloo Workshop Studio, located at 369 Waterloo Creek Drive, Dorchester, and Nate and Hallie Evans, of Allamakee Wood-Fired Pottery, 2856 Blair Road, New Albin will be two of more than 50 artists who will open their doors for a behind-the-scenes view into how their art is created.
Stephenson specializes in reed baskets designed "with a purpose" in a non-electric log home/ studio.
Nate and Hallie Evans create wood-fired functional stoneware pottery, ranging from dinnerware and serving dishes to large decorative floor pots.
Decorah is the central community from which the tour radiates no more than 35 miles in any direction. The Northeast Iowa Artistsí Studio Tour (NIAST Inc.) is Iowaís first, longest running and one of the largest tour of artistsí studios. 2007 showcases 51 artists at 37 locations, open daily from 10 to 5.
Traveling into the rural area, one discovers the bluffs, valleys and trees, plus the numerous respected artists, including photographers, painters, basket weavers, quilters, silversmiths, fiber artists, woodcarvers, kaleidoscope artists, and more, many new to the 2007 tour. Many are award-winning fine artists, who only open their work spaces to the general public for this annual event. Each artistís studio space is as individual as the artist, and experiencing, this first-hand, is the foundation of the tour itself.
Win art! Many artists will have raffles in their studios. Visit and win direct from the actual creator! Participating locations at www.iowaarttour.com.
This free-to-theñpublic event is self-supporting, funded by artist entry fees, sponsors, grants, donations, and advertising businesses. This event is funded, in part, by a grant for the Iowa Community Cultural Grant program administered by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.
