Warriors make it 5-0 with 46-13 pounding of Fillmore Central

Racking up 33 points in the first half, the fifth-ranked Caledonia football team thoroughly trounced visiting Fillmore Central 46-13 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference action. It was the fifth straight win without a loss and another very dominating performance for coach Carl Fruechteís Warriors.

The Warriors, who have out-scored their opponents 184-25 in posting a 5-0 record, led the visiting Falcons 40-0 just minutes into the third period, when Coach Fruechte pulled his starters and let the reserves play the majority of the second half.

Warrior QB Kody Moore had another stellar game, as he connected on 8 of 10 passes for 237 yards and two TDs. His first TD strike was pulled in by Andy Bauer on a nine-yard pass play. Ryan Goetzingerís kick was no good and the Warriors had a 6-0 lead.

After a CHS defensive stop, senior tailback Zach Gran scored his first of three TDs on an eight-yard run. Goetzingerís kick was good, and the score was 13-0.

Gran scored next on a four-yard run. Goetzingerís kick was good and the Warrior lead was 20-0.

Moving the ball at will, the Warriors marched down the field again and Gran pushed in from four yards out for his third TD of the first period. The extra point kick was wide, and Caledonia had a 26-0 lead, as the first period came to a close.

The Warriors continued to light up the scoreboard in the second period, when Cody Petersen romped in from six yards out. Goetzingerís kick was good and the Warrior took a 33-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

Moore found Tyler Stemper open on a two-yard pass for a TD in the third period. The Goetzinger kick was good and the CHS was 40-0.

Fillmore Central scored on a six-yard run from Levi Olstad late in the third period, and the extra point kick was good to bring the score to 40-7.

Caledoniaís reserves scored in the fourth period when Lonnie Hudson scored from one yard out. The kick failed and the score was 46-7.

Olstad scored the second Falcon TD late in the fourth period, the kick was no good, and the final score was 46-13.

The Warriors completely dominated the game, racking up 255 yards rushing and 237 passing for a 492-yard total. FC managed 136 yards on the ground and 60 yards passing. Most of the Falconsí offense came in the second half after Coach Fruechte pulled his starters.

Cody Petersen led the CHS ground game where he picked up 140 yards on 21 carries. Lonnie Hudson had 64 yards on 11 carries and a TD, Gran had 30 yards on six carries and three TDs, Alex Schliech had 17 yards on six carries, Pat Bolduan had 2 carries for five yards and Trent Meyer had one carry for five yards.

Gran pulled in two passes for 99 yards, Andy Bauer had two grabs for 67 yards and a TD, Tyler Stemper had three catches for 44 yards and a TD, and Goetzinger had one catch for 25 yards.

Eddie Hodges led the defense with two sacks, while Mitch Meiners had a fumble recovery, and Goetzinger and Isaac Fruechte both had interceptions.

Goetzinger had two punts for 84 yards, Andy Bauer had two punt returns for 19 yards and one kick off return for 10 yards and Gran had one punt return for five yards.

The Warriors will host Chatfield this Friday night for the annual Homecoming game.
