Earlyn E. Heaney
Earlyn E. Heaney, 73, of Caledonia, Minn., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
Earlyn was born June 30, 1934 in Caledonia to Dewey and Lydia (Pinski) Heaney. He worked on farms in the Caledonia area until 1957 when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Earlynís service in the Marines included two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in March of 1968. Earlyn then farmed for Wiebke Brothers in Caledonia until his retirement. He was a member of St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church and the VFW Houston County Post #3833 both in Caledonia.
Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Halverson of Caledonia; one brother, Harold (Alice) Heaney, Sr., of Caledonia; one brother-in-law, Donald Smerud of Waukon, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Earlyn was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alys Ann Smerud; two half-sisters, Luella Smith and Marie Cherry; one brother-in-law, Herman Halverson; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Houston County Post #3833 and the Loveless - Eikens American Legion Post #191, both of Caledonia. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of service.
