Margaret J. Goetzinger
Margaret J. Goetzinger, 89, of Caledonia, Minn. and formerly of Freeburg, Minn. died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Caledonia Care and Rehab, Caledonia, Minn.
She was born March 24, 1918 in Morrison County, Minn. to Adolph and Anne (Zimmerman) Koelsch. On April 22, 1942 she married Arnold B. Goetzinger in Little Falls, Minn. and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1988. She and her husband farmed in the Crooked Creek area for many years. Margaret enjoyed quilting and shared quilts she made with her family as well as mission families. She was a member of Evangelical Church of Peace in Crooked Creek Township, where she served on the church council and taught Sunday School. For many years, Margaret served on the Houston County Semcac board, volunteered for the blood mobiles, and served as an election clerk. Margaret received the Houston County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award and also the Church Women United Award in Eitzen, Minn.
Margaret is survived by her eight children, Verne (Pastor Sharon) Goetzinger of Caledonia, Elaine (Sylvan) Hauser of Spring Grove, Minn., Ronald (Sharon) Goetzinger of Sturgeon Lake, Minn., Lyle (Kathy) Goetzinger of New Albin, Iowa, Russell Goetzinger, Leslie (Cindy) Goetzinger, and Daniel (Jane) Goetzinger, all of Caledonia, and Maureen Kaufmann (fiancÈ, Raymond Dock) of Eau Claire, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Albrecht of Prescott, Ariz. and Doreen Janske of Long Prairie, Minn.; one brother, Adolph Koelsch Jr. of Germfask, Mich.; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Selma Voight of Caledonia. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Myron Goetzinger; and a grandson, Philip Goetzinger.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Evangelical Church of Peace, Crooked Creek Township. Rev. William J. Reese, Ph.D. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and also from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to the church.
