"We made some formation changes, put some different kids in different situations and it seems to have paid off for us. The team is starting to jell. Weíre putting the ball through the net. I was pleased with the way the kids played last week," commented Warrior boys soccer coach Tom Krinke Monday morning. His Warriors improved their season record to 5-3-2 with impressive shut-out wins over Planview-Egin-Millville (4-0) and Stewartville (6-0).

CHS 4 PEM 0

"We controlled the game from start to finish against PEM, and it showed, as we beat them 4-0."

Jordan Becker scored the first goal of the game for the Warriors on a penalty kick at the 14 minute mark of the first half. Colin Gluch made it 2-0 when he took a pass from Alex Castanheira at 29 minutes. That was all the scoring in the first half, as the Warriors took a 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

Becker made it 3-0 11 minutes into the second half. Castanheira had his second assist of the night. The Warriors scored again less than a minute later when Castanheira found Gluch open for the fourth CHS goal of the night.

"It was very windy- probably 35 miles per hour," Krinke said. "I told the kids to keep the ball on the ground and control the tempo of the game. Thatís just what they did.

"Once again, they played great defense. Thatís what wins games for you. Isaac (Schiltz) had his fourth shutout. It was a good defensive effort by everyone." The Warriors out-shot PEM 20-12.

CHS 6 SHS 0

The Warriors picked up their fifth win of the season when they traveled to Stewartville last Thursday and returned home with a 6-0 win.

It was another windy day, and once again Caledonia controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish.

"We actually scored nine goals in the game, but three of them were called off due to off-sides calls," Krinke said. "This was a good game for us because I was able to get everyone into the game.

The Warriors scored three times in the first half and three more in the second.

Castanheira put the Warriors ahead for good when he took a pass from Becker and drove it through the uprights 17 minutes into the game. Gluch made it 2-0 when he scored at the 23 mark. Castanheira had that assist.

Becker made it 3-0 when he scored off a pass from Gluch 33 minutes into the first half.

In the second half Brad Hesse scored his first goal of the season on a pass from Becker at the 48 minute mark in the game.

Gluch picked up his second goal of the game at the 51 minute mark, when he stole the ball and punched one home.

The final Warrior goal of the night was scored on a throw in from Jarred Inglett to Becker.

The Warriors so controlled the game that they outshot the Tigers 29-2. Schiltz had his fifth shutout of the season.

"Weíre getting better," Krinke said. "Weíre getting more confident, are playing together, and getting everyone healthy. Jordan Schuldt will be playing with us now and hopefully Craig Loeffler will be back next week."

This week

The Warriors hosted a tough Winona Cotter team Monday, Sept. 24, then will travel to Schaeffer Academy Sept. 27, and to Onalaska Sept. 29.
