Warrior gridders remain perfect with 31-0 victory over Kingsland

The Caledonia football team made it four in a row last Friday night when they travled to Spring Valley to battle the Kingsland Knights and returned home with a convincing 31-0 win. The CHS gridders, who are currently ranked seventh in the Minnesota Coachís Poll, have out-scored their opponents 133-12 in four games this season.
The Warriors scored once in the first period, two TDs in the second, a third touch in the third verse and a field goal in the final period for the 31-0 win.
Kody Moore had a big night throwing the ball, as he completed 9 of 16 attempts for 202 yards and three TDs. He was intercepted once.
Moore hit Dustin King in the opening verse for an 18-yard scoring strike. Ryan Goetzingerís kick was good and the Warriors had a 7-0 lead.
Zach Gran made it 13-0 in the second period when he scored from one yard out following a long Warrior drive. The kick failed.
Andy Bauer was the next Warrior to pull in a TD pass from Moore. The Moore to Bauer connection covered 37 yards. The Warriors went for two and were successful when Moore found Gran open in the endzone. CHS took a 21-0 lead into the halftime intermission.
The Warriors continued to dampen Kingslandís homecoming in the third period, when Bauer pulled in his second TD pass of the night from Moore. Goetzingerís kick was good and Caledoniaís lead ballooned to 28-0 halfway through the third period.
Coach Carl Fruechte played his reserves from much of the final period. The Warriors scored three more points on a 20-yard field goal by Goetzinger.
Once again the CHS defense dominated the game, giving up just 43 yards rushing and 27 yards passing.
The Warriors offense racked up 147 yards rushing and 202 through the air.
Bauer pulled in five passes for 114 yards and two TDs. King had three catches for 63 yards and a TD. Gran had two catches for 25 yards and a two-point conversion.
Gran led the CHS ground game with 91 yards and a TD on 13 carries. Cody Petersen had 53 yards on nine carries and Alex Schliech had three yards on five carries.
Goetzinger made two extra points in three attempts and also had a field goal.
Goetzinger also punted the ball four times for 139 yards. Bauer had two punt returns for 33 yards and Justin Hesse had one punt return for 24 yards. Gran had the only kick off return for 26 yards.
Kevin Voight had one sack, as did Eddie Hodges, Troy Frank, and Bauer. Tyler Stemper had a fumble recovery and an interception. Dustin King had an interception and Gran had a fumble recovery.
This week
The Warriors will host winless Fillmore Central this Friday night. The Falcons lost to Chatfield last Friday night 35-14.
