Olga Meiners Thimmesch

Olga Meiners Thimmesch, 88, of New Albin, Iowa, and formerly of Caledonia, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

Olga was born Nov. 12, 1918 in Allamakee County, Iowa, to Herman G. and Augusta (Ehlers) Meyer. In December of 1937 she married Arthur Meiners and he preceded her in death in November of 1951. She married Gregor Thimmesch in September of 1962 and he preceded her in death in March of 1976.

Survivors include seven children: Betty Farnholtz, Winona; Vernald (Star) Meiners Sr, New Albin; Kenneth John (Susan) Meiners, New Albin; Gary (Carolyn) Meiners, Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Norlin (Karen) Meiners, New Albin; Linda Rogers, New Albin; and John Thimmesch, Rockford, Ill.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Meiners, Omaha, Neb.; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Meyer, Eitzen; one brother, Lester (Donna) Meyer, New Albin; and one sister-in-law, Lois Meyer, Davenport, Iowa.

In addition to her first and second husbands, Olga was preceded in death by one son, Wilbert Meiners; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Meyer; one son-in-law, Don Farnholtz; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Meyer.

Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. at the New Albin Community Center. Pastor Jim Olsen of Christ Community Ev. Free Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call at the New Albin Community Center on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., concluding with a prayer service and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Haugen Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
