Dorothy Klug

Dorothy E. Klug, 89, of Caledonia, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.    She was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Hokah, Minn. to Aloysius “Louis” and Julia (Feldmeier) Wieser. Dorothy graduated from St. Peter Catholic High School in Hokah and on June 8, 1943, she married Rainer Klug at St. Peter’s. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1981.

Dorothy was the ultimate mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. While raising her nine children on the farm, her flower and vegetable gardens were her pride and joy. After retiring from the farm, she worked many years at Mary Ann’s Floral where she shared her knowledge of gardening. She was always a true caregiver, taking care of all.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia, where she was active in many organizations. Dorothy’s door was always open with the coffee pot on and with a warm welcome for everyone.

She is survived by her eight children; Ted, Caledonia; Steve (Anna),  Spring Grove, Minn.; Bernie (fiancée, Martha), Blaine, Minn.; Ken, Little Canada, Minn.; Marilyn (Don) Cook, New Hope, Minn.; Al (Sue), Caledonia, Deb (Larry) Hanan of Hokah and Dan, Caledonia; 31 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Trudy) Wieser, Hokah; brother and sister in law, Howard and Mary Meyer, La Crescent, Minn. and sister-in-law Helen Klug, Caledonia.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Len; grandsons Paul and Edward; great-granddaughter, Alexis; and sisters Sr. Aloysius and Sr. Juliana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Feb. 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate  and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Hall, next to the church, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the hall on Thursday morning.
