Paul Schnedecker

Paul J. Schnedecker, 89, of Hokah, Minn., died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.

He was born in La Crosse on Jan. 7, 1923, to Joseph and Mary (Lorenz) Schnedecker.  He married Helen Miller on Oct. 15, 1946, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah.  He was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Parish where he served as a mass server as a youth.

Paul farmed his entire life in rural Hokah.  He was truly dedicated to the land he farmed and the animals he tended to for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; a nephew, Joe (Wendy) Harer of Brownsville, Minn.; a niece, Evelyn (Dave) Adams of Bonita, Cal.; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Mary Ann (Miller) Happel of Hokah.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and one sister, Margaret Harer and her husband, Harold.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah. Rev. Joseph Pete officiated. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Convent Cemetery, Hokah. Friends called at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s School or given towards masses.
