Flat tax truly is a no-brainer
To the Editor:
This is in response to the Feb. 1 letter, “Fair tax is not a tough choice.”
It certainly isn’t a tough choice for me. How would you like to not have public schools, a library, police or fire department? How would you like to not have your roads plowed? How would you like to give Mitt Romney another tax cut?
We can end wasteful corporate subsidies and off-shore tax havens right now without a so-called “fair tax.”
The writer promised “an immediate 10 percent raise” in your pay. But your employer already knows what wage you’ll work for in relation to today’s buying power and will probably just cut your wages accordingly when your taxes go down. You’ll break even on wages while losing the advantages of living in a civilized society. A flat tax truly is a “no-brainer.”
