He was born in a sod house in Emerson, N.D. on Aug. 10, 1910 to Darrel J. and Mabel M. (Eberhard) Fairbanks. Frank farmed in 11 different decades as well as having many different side occupations. He was a musician, private pilot, painter, weed inspector, and a columnist for a local newspaper in his later years.
Frank is survived by his daughter Diane (Mrs. Gary) Fischer, his son Thomas Fairbanks and three granddaughters: Lori, Lisa, and Kari Fischer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Meta (Schnick) Fairbanks, his parents, and his brothers Adam and Sydney Fairbanks.
