“Generous persons helping others,” is probably the best way to describe a community service project that the Caledonia Rotary Club is sponsoring.
“Neighbors Day,” organized by the Caledonia Rotary Club, will be held Saturday, April 28.
As Neighbors Day Coordinator Arien O’Heron explained, “this is an event to help out the elderly and disabled in our community by raking their lawns, trimming shrubs and cleaning outside windows.”
O’Heron asked if you know of anyone in the city limits who would benefit from these types of services, contact her or any other Rotary Club member to obtain a Neighbors Day House registration form.
Forms were sent out via an email blast last week, so many in the Caledonia community already know about the special day. But for those who might not be connected to the Internet or missed the email, there is still time to sign up those who could use a little help this spring.
“They don’t necessary need to have all three services done to their house (rake, trim shrubs, or clean windows), either one, two or all three can be done,” O’Heron explained. “Or if there is something else that needs to be done there is a spot to add and we’ll see if we can help out with it.”
If you or a group would like to get involved with this community service project and help rake lawns, trim shrubs, and clean windows for those that register, persons are encouraged to get in touch with a Rotary Club member before April 14.
On April 28, between 8 and 9 a.m., volunteer groups should meet at Immanuel Lutheran Church to register. This will include getting their assigned houses and picking up supplies (donuts will also be available). From then until noon volunteers will be working on those spring chores.
There’s still time to get involved in this very worthwhile project.
Persons can obtain a Neighbors Day sign-up form or get more information by contacting O’Heron at: firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (507) 725-8647.
