Going Green
By Angela Denstad Stigeler
When you’re on the go, good nutrition often slips by the wayside. But if you take five before you leave, you can whir together a full meal in a cup that will keep you going strong. No juicer is required for this fruit and veggie medley; a blender will do the job. If you’re keen on greens, you’ll need no convincing that spinach can be splendid sipped through a straw. For those not so sure, enjoy the fresh green color of this tasty shake; without seeing green, you’d never know the spinach is there. As you head out this coming Earth Day, whirl up a green smoothie and do your part to keep our world green and running smoothly.
Green Smoothie
1 cup loosely packed spinach leaves
½ an apple, peeled, cored and coarsely chopped
½ cup orange juice
¾ cup plain yogurt
¼ cup honey
A pinch of ground ginger, to taste
Place all the ingredients in a blender and give it a whirl! Puree until smoothie.
