Warrior boys top R-P in golf, lose to Decorah

The Caledonia/Spring Grove boys golf team had “a nice week,” as coach Jeremy Leis put it. The Warriors traveled to Ferndale Country Club Thursday and defeated Rushford-Peterson 185-191.
Devin Schiltz led the Warriors with a 42. Evan Welscher had a 46, Hunter Rud had a 48, Sean Conner and Derek Johnson both had 49s and Carter Mann had a 53.
JV lose to R-P 223 to 207
The Warrior junior varsity lost to the Trojans 16 strokes.
Drew Stemper had a 54, Cole Konkel and Isaak Solum had 56s, Cody Breeser and Zach Gavin had 58s and Cody Heimer had a 69.
“I am encouraged with the kids. They really are focused on really working on their games,” Leis noted.
“On Friday we had a match at home against Decorah High School,” Leis reported. “We tied them 181 strokes so we went to the fifth score and we lost as their fifth player had a 50 and our fifth player had a 52.”
For the Warriors, Schiltz had the low score with a 42, Conner had a 44, Johnson had a 47, Rud had a 48, Welscher had a 52 and Breeser had a 53.
JV loses 188 to 209
The Warrior JV lost to Decorah 17 strokes. Jayme Lenning led the way with a 46, Isaac Solum had a 51, Drew Stemper had a 55, Jacob Lenning had a 56, Cole Konkel had a 60 and Cody Heimer had a 63.
“It was a good week. Again, we had a bunch of different kids playing. Friday the weather was brutal, very windy and raining. The kids played tough and I am very proud of them,” Leis said.
