Wrestlers conclude season with honors

Caledonia/Houston/Spring Grove concluded its wrestling season by honoring its athletes at a potluck on April 18.

“We had a lot of good kids deserving of these awards,” said coach Dan Goergen.

Rookie of the Year went to Hunter Hauser Coldwell. The Most Improved Junior Varsity wrestler was Mitchell Schmitz and the Most Improved Varsity wrestler was Dylan Stemper. Most Valuable Wrestler was Austin Goergen.

The Most Dedicated Wrestler was Connor McCormick. The Coaches Award went to Troy King who was cited for his dominance over wrestlers at the end of the year after losing to them at the beginning of the season.  Austin Goergen had the Most Falls Award after getting 20. The Most Takedowns Award, with 49 each, was shared by Willie Krage and Casey Stemper.

Awarded varsity letters were Austin Goergen, Travis Frank, Connor McCormick, Casey Stemper, John Ellenz, Ryan Mauss, Troy King, Austin Fitzgerald, Willie Krage, Shane Loken, David Guth, Blaine Knutson, Dylan Stemper, Luke Werner, Willie Loken, Reece Lange, Hunter Hauser Coldwell, Dylan Lee, Justin Stemper, Drew Stemper, Jake Swindell, Alex Goergen, Eli  Krage and Mitchell Schmitz.

Manager letter winners

Five managers received letters this year.  They were Cara Stemper, Audra Benson, Tressa King, Alison Goergen and Olivia Schmitz.
